Ron Stacey
Senior Grade Two Instructor
Embarking on an aviation profession back in 1956 and gaining his commercial licence in 1958, Ron began a mixed occupation of Charter and Instructing until mid-1960. His 29 and a half year epic career with Ansett Australia began shortly after, achieving command posts on the DC3, DC4, DC9, Boeing 727 100/200 and Boeing 767 aircraft. He then Captained the 747 for 8 and a half years at Singapore Airlines before retiring from the airline scene at the ripe young age of 60.
Ron returned to instructing in 1999 with TVSA and is still putting his younger counterparts to shame as he fulfils his passion as a spritely grade two Instructor.
Besides his flying duties; Ron was also an influential member of the ICAO Obstacle Clearance Panel for 25 years, stood as the chairman of the International Federation of Airline Pilots aerodrome Comittee for 6 years, was Chief observer at an ICAO Divisional meeting (Aerodromes) in 1980 and represented Australian pilots at various CASA commitees over 30 years.
