With the supply for pilots and aviation skilled workers dwindling and the demand for air travel growing, TVSA Pilot Training is doing its part to prevent the pilot drought with #STUDYAVI2020.

#STUDYAVI2020 is our chance to introduce people to the aviation industry and the nationally accredited training options available.

The Industry

Right now, the industry is on the verge of a pilot shortage. Boeing and Airbus forecast that over half a million new pilots will be needed in the next 25 years. This is due to several factors including:

  • Expanding airline fleets
  • Increase in low cost airline carriers
  • Mandatory retirement age of 65

The result of the combination of these factors is delayed and grounded flights as well as increased duty time and reduced downtime between long haul flights for crew.

The only way to combat this growing issue is for more people to become licenced pilots.

The Training

TVSA Pilot Training has 2 accredited training courses on scope that can help you become an airline pilot, AVI50219 Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence) and AVI50519 Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Rating).

AVI50219 Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence) is one of the best starting points for your journey to the captain’s seat. Our integrated course gives you the perfect balance of theory and practical training, with the tuition including your 7 commercial theory subjects and 150-hours of flight training over 47-weeks full time.

Our AVI50519 Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Rating) will expand on your initial training, adding an Instrument Rating and Multi-Engine Class Rating to your licence. This training will allow you to fly a single or twin-engine aircraft at night or in poor weather conditions.

Together, these diploma’s take approx. 16 months to complete and are both approved for financial support (for eligible students only).
