Theory Courses

Behind every practical component of your flying is a theory component. At TVSA, we prepare you for these exams and have a number of theory courses available for each phase of your career.

Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL)

The CPL theory course requires you to complete seven areas of study. An exam on each area needs to be completed before you are able to attain your Commercial License. The seven subjects are: Meteorology, Performance and Planning, Navigation, Human Factors, Aircraft General Knowledge (AGK), Aerodynamics and Air Law. Please see tabs below for start dates for each subject.

Private Pilot Licence (PPL)

This theory course will prepare you for the PPL theory exam. This exam will cover topics such as flight rules and air law, aerodynamics, meteorology, navigation, flight planning, power plants, aircraft systems and other relevant subject.

Basic Aeronautical Knowledge (BAK)

BAK is the first exam you will complete as a student pilot. It tests the basic principles of flight and aircraft general knowledge as well as meteorology and air law. Our next BAK course runs over 4 Saturdays in August.
