PRIVATE PILOT LICENCE

The licence qualifies you to fly cross-country, either alone, or with passengers. Once you have obtained the Private Pilot Licence (PPL), you can fly anywhere in Australia. Visit Alice Springs, fly to another city for lunch or see mountain ranges from the air.

Private Pilot Licence

The PPL(A) is broken into two areas.  First being the General Flying Progress Test which enables you to fly solo with passengers within a restricted area. You can then continue your training outside the training area to encompass navigation and various aerodrome procedures.  The flying training required is outlined as follows:  (Note that these are based on the average hours and not the legal minimum.  For the legal minimum please refer to our Rate Sheet)

 

GFPT Flying Training

Basic aircraft handling including normal and cross wind circuits, flapless, short field and glide approaches, steep turns, practice forced landings, instrument flying, precautionary search and stalls as well as the other associated training.   

                        30 hrs dual

                        7   hrs solo

                        1   hr synthetic trainer   

                        $6,730 approx

( This is a realistic figure for the average student) .

The cost based on minimum times is $3,500.

 

PPL (A) Flying Training

Navigation training including controlled airspace work, GAAP and non-controlled aerodrome procedures.       

                        18 hrs dual

                        5 hrs solo

                        2 hrs synthetic trainer    

                        $5120 approx

(This is a realistic figure for the average student) .

The cost based on minimum times is $4,640.

These costs are approximate and will vary depending on student ability, age, frequency of lessons and dedication to the training.  Private training can be done on a part or full time basis and programs are designed to meet the students needs.
