Theory Courses
Ground theory refers to study undertaken on the ground rather than in the air and is an integral part of flying training.
As you proceed through your training you will have to pass written examinations connected with flying and air law before proceeding to your first solo flight and first solo to the training area. In your early training you will be studying basic aeronautical knowledge, principles of flight, engines, aeroplane operation and flight radio.
TVSA offers you two different options to study the relevant subjects:
- Course - both part full time. Varying periods and costs depending on subject.
- Private - one to one with an experienced tutor.

Includes the Pre-Solo, Pre-Area and Basic Aeronautical Knowledge Exam. - Commercial Pilot Licence
The CPL(A) Course covers all the theory required to sit the 7 Commercial Pilot Licence theory subjects. - Private Pilot Licence
The PPL(A) Course includes the cost of the exam.
