Behind every practical component of your flying is a theory component. At TVSA, we prepare you for these exams and have a number of theory courses available for each phase of your career. We offer classroom and private tuition options to suit your preferred learning style.
BAK (Basic Aeronautical Knowledge) is the first exam you will complete as a student pilot. It tests the basic principles of flight and aircraft general knowledge as well as meteorology and air law. Typically the BAK is a instructor-led classroom course.
The PPLA (Private Pilot License – Aeroplane) theory course is the first computer-based exam you will sit. You require your PPLA theory to be completed before you are able to be issued with a Private Pilot License. Private one-on-one tuition is available, as well as several instructor-led classroom courses throughout the year.
The CPLA (Commercial Pilot License – Aeroplane) theory course expands on the PPLA syllabus and requires you to complete seven areas of study. An exam on each area needs to be completed before you are able to attain your Commercial License. The seven subjects are: Meteorology, Performance and Planning, Navigation, Human Factors, Aircraft General Knowledge (AGK), Aerodynamics and Air Law.
The Instrument Rating Exam (IREX) theory course is required to pass the Command Instrument Rating. IREX covers many aviation subjects (Meteorology, Planning, Human Factors, Air Law, Navigation, etc.) and is designed to give you the skills and knowledge required to successfully pass your IREX exam. Our course covers real word, practical application of the theory learned and gives you the best preparation possible to pass the exam and flight tests.
Our ATPL Theory course is an important step towards attaining your Air Transport Pilots Licence. The course theory will teach you all the Aeronautical knowledge standards, specified by CASA, you’re required to know.
Please note that to receive discounts on packages, e.g Private Pilot Licence package, you must pay total course cost upfront
